What is Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism Reporting?
During the transition period to the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), the European Commission has mandated importing companies to regularly calculate and report the carbon footprint of products imported to Europe every quarter, starting from October 2023.
The European Commission’s reporting requirement aims to ensure that companies determine the environmental impact of their imported products. While the reporting requirement remains in effect from January 1, 2026, carbon pricing will also be implemented on imported products.
