I-REC Certificates

Along with new environmental responsibilities, countries and companies set greenhouse gas emission reduction targets and prepare action plans to reach these targets. Green energy supply is essential to reduce Scope 2 emissions from the electricity supplied. Here, there are different models such as the company establishing its own renewable power plant, Joint Venture, Green PPA agreement. One of these reduction methods is I-REC certificates. Since the electricity in the network is produced from different sources, the right to use the electricity produced from renewable energy sources can be provided through certificates. I-REC certificates prove that the electricity used from the grid is produced from renewable energy sources, and consumers who purchase certificates can certify that they are using green electricity. Internationally valid I-REC certificates are an instrument preferred and used by many companies. It is not mandatory to obtain the I-REC certificate from the current supplier. Electricity supply and certificate procurement process can be carried out separately. With the announcement of the Emissions Trading System planned to be established in Turkey and the “Fit For 55” package by the EU and the Carbon at the Border Regulation planned to be implemented in parallel, the greenhouse gas emission reduction mechanisms gained even more value.

As enexion Group, we are happy to support you, our customers, by providing transparency during the I-REC certificate procurement process. We hope to work together and wish you good work.
